The Amazon Kindle eBook

So you might have been hearing about Amazon's new eBook over the course of the week and wondering what the story with this thing actually is. Well the easiest way to think of it is... "an iPod for books"

Kindle is a portable eBook device that allows you to download reading pleasures such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, TIME, Atlantic Monthly and Forbes magazine. But, the main purpose is so that you can download books. You can access the Kindle Store via wireless connectivity which means whether you are sitting at home, on a train, bus or in a pub you can download a book. And, with around 88,000 novels including 100 of 112 current New York Times Best Sellers to choose from you won't be short of choice or quality. it is expected to hold around 200 titles at one time and best sellers will go for $9.99. You can also access over 250 top blogs from the worlds of business, technology, sports, entertainment, and politics.

Amazon say that you will be able to download a whole book onto Kindle in under 1 minute and unlike WiFi, Kindle will use the same high-speed data network (EVDO) as advanced cell phones—so you never have to locate a hotspot. The Amazon Kindle, priced at £200, sold out on its debut but they are back in stock for December 5th so you can get one before Christmas.
